This painting depicts the mood of scholars living in seclusion in the mountains and waters, fishing, meeting friends, or reading. The details such as houses and gardens have the lingering charm of the painting of Wu School in the Ming Dynasty. However, the mountain is more particular about the trend. The moss points are densely distributed on the mountain edges to mold the mountain volume. It should be the works influenced by Dong Qichang’s painting style and theory after the 17th century. This combination of green and green coloring and texturing is often attributed to Zhao Mengfu, which is the result of the development of Zhao’s green style in the middle and late Ming Dynasty.
