- Description:
This is a line drawing and ink painting. It depicts a gathering of scholars in the shade of wutong beside the stream. One person sits on the couch and plays a few zithers. The three scribes sit around and listen. Four servants stand by, or add incense, grind tea, and boil wine. There are strange stones, green bamboos, and Xiangfei bamboo railings around. The composition is similar to the painting of the Eighteen Scholars of the Song Dynasty, which is collected in the courtyard. Only this axis reflects the houses of the upper class. In the middle of the painting is a site painting screen, with a bed and a long table in front, an official hat chair beside the table, a incense table in front, and a set of incense sticks and tea sets on the long table. From the perspective of furniture form, it should be painted in the late Ming Dynasty.
