Li Yan (1245-13220 AD) was born in Jixian County, Hebei Province. Zhongbin is the Taoist priest of Xizhai. He once went to Jiaozhi as an envoy, went deep into the bamboo village, and made a detailed observation on the shape, color and ecology of bamboo. He wrote two music scores: [painted bamboo] and [ink bamboo].
