Description:
A saddle-cloth; padded? Roughly rectangular in shape, narrower in middle than at sides. In centre of each panel is a key-shaped blue/green tabby cotton cloth, trimmed with strips of brocaded silk cloth: apricot-coloured (inner), yellow and blue (outer, and widest). A rectangular blue/green panel stitched transversely between two paniers. Two slits equidistant from central panel, piped with cream suede. Lined with natural tabby ramie (?) cloth; stained. Lining patched in four areas with bleached ramie (?) cloth. Holes in brocade; some silk shattered. Evidence of former insect damage.
