Description:
Plate with the coat of arms of Pryce Gogirthen, “Gules a tower with a dome argent, before the gate a wolf sejant regardant or” (although this arms are not recorded). The impaled coast is probably of More, “Argent a chevron engrailed between three moorcocks sable, members and beaked gules”. Motto: see inscription. In the border are alternate heads and swords. Made of famille rose enamelled porcelain.

Comments:Formerly thought to be Norwich impaling Cromer according to old index card Armorial attribution based on D.S Howard 1974, p. 411. Howard believed the service was made for Lewis Pryce of Gogirthen. The More arms are probably of Barnborough in Yorkshire and London. Lewis Pryce’s daughter Mary married in 1726 John Campbell of Cawdor, a Lord of the Admiralty, for whom three services were made, two with this impalement.
