Comments:Rawson 1995:This piece is a late copy of a tiger-shaped pendant based upon a woodblock illustration in the ‘Kaogu tu’, originally compiled in 1092 by Lu Dalin. This text must have been familiar to all the educated in the Song, Yuan and Ming periods. Although actual examples must have been known in the Song and later to have made possible this woodblock illustration, the copies in jade are completely out of proportion, being much heavier than the original tiger pendants.
