Description:
It is a green white jade with many cracks at the end of the handle, and has become brown. The body looks like half of the cut peaches, with branches and peach leaves extending at the bottom. Qian Yu, a famous local family in Wuxi in the late Southern Song Dynasty, died in the seventh year of Yanyou in the Yuan Dynasty (1320). A peach shaped jade wash unearthed from the tomb is generally regarded as a representative of jade artifacts from the late Southern Song Dynasty to the early Yuan Dynasty. There are many peach or fancy jade washes in the courtyard, and this one is the most simple and natural, similar to those unearthed from Qian Yu’s tomb.
