Negative (black and white); The road leading to Lhasa from Gyantse. Gyantse dzong can be seen on a steep hill in the lower centre background of the image. A small village is on the left and the larger building on the right is part of a monastery. People can be seen walking along the road towards Gyantse. Tami, Hopkinson’s orderly, can be seen mounted on a white horse on the right of the image. Hopkinson and others based at Gyantse Trade Agency were on their way to have lunch with Taring Raja and his family, who lived 7 miles outside Gyantse along the Lhasa Road. Tibet. Photographic process
