Description:
Small globular porcelain jar with underglaze blue decoration. This small globular jar has rounded sides narrowing in towards a small mouth opening and stands on an unusual spreading foot ring with a depressed base. It is decorated in pale underglaze blue cobalt with a band of naturalistic lotus scroll, with lappets below and a collar of individual leaves, which grow from a single blue line, above. The base carries a six-character underglaze blue Xuande reign mark in a double ring. A broad brown crackle which covers the jar inside and out suggests that it was over-fired in the kiln.
