Description:
Porcelain jar with underglaze blue decoration. This ‘min yao’ ovoid jar has a raised neck and a low foot. It is painted in pale cobalt blue with a composite lotus scroll with two blooms painted in cross-section and one shown aerially. Above this are the Eight Treasures of Buddhism punctuated by further auspicious emblems. Above and below this band of decoration is a border of ‘ruyi’ heads and a band of lappets is shown above the foot. Vertical lines decorate the neck.
