Comments:Old woman’s day costume.Text from Corrigan 2001: 69: taijiang/leishan county, qiandongnan prefecture. Female Festive Jacket. Sleeved collared jacket with front opening and side slits. Probably worn by an older woman. A hand-woven indigo-dyed cotton jacket. The decoration is applied to the sleeves, shoulders, collar and front facings. The dominant embroidery is applied braid, which is handmade. Flat braid is used on the fronts and collar, and pleated braid is applied on the shoulders and sleeves. Rows of folded silk and gold paper decorate the collar and edge the braided designs.
