Description:
A monk / lama official’s hat (outdoor); shallow crown, flat top, wide brim [9 cms]. Made of brocaded cloth (hemp (?) ground with gold metal-wrapped thread patterning). Cloth design comprises two styles of ‘shou’ (longevity/immortality) motif with infilling of key and fret patterning (containing ‘wan’/swastika). Orange (silver metal-wrapped thread, tarnished) and blue (silver on paper strip?) brocaded cloths, in the shape of a cross (+) with a large circle in the middle, stitched to crown top and band to sides. Brim lined with red brocaded cloth (hemp (?) ground with gold metal-wrapped thread patterning). Crown lined with red/pink tabby cotton cloth. Two ties made from pink tabby silk cloth.
