Description:
A monk / lama official’s hat; upturned brim covering domed crown. Crown made of yellow quilted damask silk cloth with couched ‘shou’ (longevity/immortality) motif worked on yellow satin silk cloth centre front. Stylized twelve-petalled flower motif couched to centre top of crown (couched silk braiding in tones of blue on yellow satin silk ground). Padded (with cardboard?) brim covered in dark blue tabby woven wool cloth with nap; some small holes. Lined with red tabby cotton cloth. Plied red cotton chin strap.
