Description:
A hat; worn by an ‘abbot’s’ servant. Yellow felted flat crown. Sides made from stiffened brocaded cloth (pink and green silk yarns and tarnished silver metal-wrapped thread and silver strip). Ties made from red silk damask cloth. Crown lined with blue (indigo dyed?) tabby cotton cloth. Sides lined with red damask silk cloth, in good condition; red damask cloth ties. Stitched to inside of hat is natural cream twill cotton bag with drawstring at top, a travelling bag?
