Description:
Official’s war hat; a ‘tupi’ (?); upturned brim covering crown with flat top. Crown made of overlapping brocaded blue silk cloth with floral motifs worked in gold metal-wrapped thread. Coral (?) ‘finial’ / ‘button’, with domed gold (?) metal with green jade (?) cylindrical pendant attached to middle top. Stiffened sides (cardboard?) made of four separate sections, with large-scale scalloped top edge; largest, back section flaps down, covering neck. Visible sections covered with floral brocaded cloth (gold metal-wrapped thread and silver on cardboard (?) strip on red satin silk ground). Lined with red damask cloth. Hat lined with red tabby cotton cloth.
