Description:
A man’s (?) hat; conical crown, mostly hidden by outer band with scalloped top edge (with separate front (?) section*) . Made from red tabby wool cloth with nap. Top edge piped with black silk (?) velvet cloth. Line of top edge emphasised by couched plaiting (gold metal-wrapped thread, blue and cream wool yarns). Hat lined with blue (indigo dyed?) tabby cotton cloth. (*yellow twill weave wool cloth)
