The body is decorated with four longitudinal clay strips, and the clay strips are carved with oblique rope lines. The cover and shoulder are decorated with double string patterns. There is no glaze in the cover to expose the white body, and there is no glaze at the mouth and foot ends. The decorative habit of sticking straight edged clay bars, or related to the decoration of metal objects, is commonly found in the unearthed articles of the tenth century. This piece is most similar to the cap jar of Gaojichan Tomb (909) in Houliang, Luoyang, and also sticks straight clay bars as ornaments and gourd shaped cap buttons.
