Liu Songnian (1174-1224), a native of Qiantang (now Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province), was a student of Chunxi Academy of Painting. He served as an imperial edict during the reign of Shaoxi. During the reign of Emperor Ning Zong, the imperial edict was given because of the introduction of the “Farming and Weaving Map”, and a gold belt was given. Together with Li Tang, Ma Yuan and Xia Gui, they are called “Four Great Masters of the Southern Song Dynasty”.
