Snow covers the river bank and mountain peak, and crows gather to return home. Between the streams and mountains, there are still green trees, which should be a winter scene in the south of the Yangtze River. From the perspective of landscape construction, this painting still has the legacy of “the main mountain stands in the center of the picture”, but it has lost the Northern Song style of rich rocks. The emptiness of the whole picture accounts for almost half of it, showing the charm of the landscape in the Southern Song Dynasty. In terms of expressing trees and stones, the style of Li Tang is inherited, but the techniques of painting trees and chopping chaps tend to be exquisite and meticulous, which is quite different from the rough and simple style of Ma Xia (active between the 12th and the 3rd centuries) School.
