Carved ivory figure of Wen Chang, the god of literature and writing, holding a hu tablet in his left hand while his right hand supporting an ornamental girdle. The figure’s hair and eyes were touched in black ink while his broad waistband and scholarly belt were gilded over a red lacquer bole.
