Comments:Rawson 1996:The two types of insect common among Shang and Western Zhou animal jades are the silkworm pupa and the cicada. In the Shang period the cicada tends to be short and compact, becoming gradually more elongated, at least in some examples. See also BM 1945.1017.162.
