Comments:Zwalf 1985The very long right arm reaches out to souls destined for the Western Paradise. Pure Land Buddhism continued to be popular in the Ming and Qing dynasties, as did Chan Buddhism, with both schools sharing more ideas – a trend that had begun in the 10th century. The drapery on later Chinese Buddhist bronze sculpture is rarely naturalistic, the preference being for a flatter, more linear approach, enlivened here by the vigorous undulation of the robe borders.
