Description:
Porcelain figure of a standing monk with green glaze decoration. This figure shows a bare-headed monk with elongated ear lobes, standing on a lotus flower pedestal, holding his hands together in prayer. He is dressed in long flowing robes and shoes. The base is stamped with a studio or factory mark which reads: ‘Jiang Bo Xiang zao’ [Made by Jiang Boxiang].

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:Such figures were probably cheap versions of similar figures cast from bronze. A larger figure of a monk in a similar pose made from bronze, dating to the seventeenth century, is in the British Museum (BM 1990.0529.1).
