White Dehua porcelain figure of a seated Guanyin in the attitude of meditation. White. There is a seal mark on the back. The interior and the base are neatly finished, with small areas of grit adhered to the front of the base.

Originally the figures were probably made as cheap alternatives to ivory carvings of deities also made in Fujian. Porcelains from Dehua were exported to Europe as evidenced by excavations, shipwrecks, shipping lists and inventories of possessions. They were also made for the domestic market.
