Yamāntaka Vajrabhairava. Figure of Yamāntaka Vajrabhairava, the fierce manifesation of Mañjuśrī and yi-dam of the dGelugs Pa school, with his wisdom-partner Vajravarāhī. In yab-yum. Made of gilded and blue, red coloured bronze. Hands hold various symbols; feet rest on a human figure.

Comments:16 March 1981, file 4516, BMRL no 15381 U. Report on analysis of a red stone from a hammered metal sculpture. This hard, orange-red stone was analysed by x-ray diffraction and found to be calcite (Ca CO3). Because of the colour it is probably coral. W A Oddy.
