- Description:
This painting was originally intended to be painted by Guo Xi in the Northern Song Dynasty, but by observing its style and techniques, it is found that it is very close to Zhou Wenjing’s “Visiting Dai on a Snowy Night”, a court painter in the early Ming Dynasty. The theme is to depict the snow covered winter landscape of mountains. The main peak is on the left side, and the right side is the pushing and retreating hills. In terms of brush and ink skills, the two pictures are used to drawing the outline or texture of rocks with relatively dry chapped pens, while the two pictures are very similar to each other, whether it is the small trees on the top of the mountain, the dry trees in cold weather, the hillsides along the river bank, or the details such as moss and reeds. These characteristics reveal that this work may be another authentic work of Zhou Wenjing.
