Description:
This seated famille verte porcelain figure on a hexagonal base represents a female immortal, probably one of the Eight Daoist Immortals- the androgynous Lan Caihe. She is usually identified by a basket of flowers which she carries but here whatever she carried in her left hand is broken off. She is dressed in a yellow robe, decorated with plum blossom, and her hair is tied in a chignon. The front of the base is painted with a central chrysanthemum flower head on a diaper ground and the back with a lozenge-shaped chime flanked by two flower heads. Originally it would have belonged to a set of eight figures.
