Description:
Carved ivory figure of Shou Xing, the stellar god of longevity, with five children. Shao Xing wears long robes with shou (longevity) characters and floral patterns and holds a gnarled staff tied with a gourd and terminating in dragon’s head. One child seated in Shou Xing’s hand holds a lotus flower which makes a pun for ‘may you have a long lineage of sons’. The child at Shou Xing’s feet holds a lingzhi fungus in his left hand and an open pomegranate in his right.
