- Description:
“Filial Piety Shoes” refers to the daily life during the mourning period, which indicates that Guo Tingping is in mourning. According to the content, it is speculated that the contract was signed in the eighth year of Xining (1075). Calligraphy belongs to the early beautiful style. The pen is exquisite and the lines are smooth and rich. This letter was written on a piece of pink paper decorated with tortoise shell patterns. There was a small tortoise in the hexagonal tortoise shell patterns. After it was spread to Japan, it became a popular pattern. Sometimes the tortoise was also simplified into a flower, but it was rare on Chinese writing paper. Although Su Shi paid attention to simplicity during the mourning period, he used exquisite tortoise shell pattern calendered paper. Considering that ancient tortoise shaped epitaphs were also decorated with tortoise shell patterns, perhaps the implications of the patterns themselves could be in line with etiquette.
