- Description:
This imperial poem “Ding Chou” should be a work to watch during the second southern tour in February of the 22nd year of Qianlong reign (1757). In his poem, Emperor Qianlong borrowed Zhao Feiyan and Yang Yuhuan to praise the red and white peonies in the painting. In the painting, the outline of flowers and leaves and the lines of leaf veins are fine and beautiful. The leaf veins are close to the pattern. The color is light, but the shadow effect is sought. The edge of stems and leaves changes from red to green. The style is elegant, similar to that of Qian Xuan (1235~1303)’s Painting of Autumn Melons.
