This painting was written by Guo Xi (active in the 11th century AD). The trees in the painting have fallen leaves and withered. Only the old dry branches like dragons’ claws, and the mottled old cypresses with residual green leaves stand on the lonely slope soil, shaping the bleak and cold weather. In painting, no matter trees or rocks are painted, the brush is vigorous and powerful. The ink color is rendered layer by layer, which increases the gray sky, whitens the cold snow, and makes the scenery more desolate. The tree stone has a slightly procedural tendency, which may be the work of the 13th century.
