Comments:There is a list of descriptions of the subjects inserted in the front of the album. This drawing is described as: “N.o 44. Method of watering the rice fields by swinging a basket. Vide Sir Geo: Stauntons Account of the Embassy, Page 359, vol. 2.d”This image shows two different methods of irrigation used by the Chinese, represented by the two men with their basket and the wooden machinery in the background.
