Comments:There is a list of descriptions of the subjects inserted in the front of the album. This drawing is described as: “69 A Mandarins accommodation Barge – – – Vide the Costume of China.” There appears to be no directly-corresponding plate in “The Costume of China” to this drawing, despite Alexander’s reference to it in the description transcribed above. “The Costume of China” contains two illustrations of Mandarins’ boats – Plate 4 and Plate 24, but neither matches this drawing either visually or in terms of the accompanying textual description.
