Comments:There is a list of descriptions of the subjects inserted in the front of the album. This drawing is described as: “70 Van-tazhin’s travelling Barge – – – Vide the Costume of China.” Plate 4 (aquatint) in “The Costume of China” (published 1805; etched lettering under image: “W. Alexander fecit,” and “London. Publish’d July 20. 1797. by G Nicol. Pallmall.”) entitled “The Travelling Barge of Van-ta-Zhin”. There a few minor variations in colouring and disposition of figures between the BM drawing and the aquatint.For further information about the album, see comment for 1865,0520.193.For information regarding the correct identifcation of individual to whom this barge belonged see 1865,0520.197.
