  • Description:
This axis uses flying white strokes to draw stones. The ink is light and the strokes are strong. The brush bamboo and dead wood painted in ink are behind the stone, and there are orchids in front of the stone, while a bird perches on the dead branch. Although the composition is slightly symmetrical, the images of flying white stone, ancient wood, orchid and bamboo in the painting do not follow the actual ecology, but tend to show the ink effect, which belongs to the style of dry wood, bamboo and stone painting in the Yuan Dynasty. The dead wood in the painting is similar to Zhao Mengfu’s Bamboo, Stone and Ancient Wood collected in the courtyard. Although there is no stamp on the painting, it can be speculated that it is an example of this painting style in the Yuan Dynasty. Scholars speculate that it may be closely related to Zhao Mengfu.
