The glaze has shrunk away slightly from the rim revealing a pure white porcelain body. The dish is incised on the base with a six-character Xuande reign mark in a double ring beneath a transparent glaze. Single-colour high-fired blue glazes were first used in the Yuan dynasty (see case 53). Archaeologists have excavated similar dishes at the site of the imperial kilns at Jingdezhen.
