Potters took a bamboo tube covered with silk gauze and blew ground cobalt through it onto the moist transparent glaze. After firing at a high-temperature, they added gilt designs. This type of Chinese monochrome was very popular in Europe where it was copied successfully in England at the Worcester and Bow porcelain factories around 1760.
