Description:
Porcelain dish with reserved white and underglaze blue decoration. This dish has rounded sides, a broad flat rim and a tapering foot. A double peony with leaves and buds is reserved in white on a blue ground in a medallion, bordered with ‘ruyi’, encircled with a plain band and with a border of ‘ruyi’ on stems. The rim is decorated with auspicious symbols reserved in white on a blue ground, including pomegranates, lozenges, flowers, a conch shell, chrysanthemums, ‘ruyi’ clouds, ‘ruyi’ fungus, rhinoceros horns, peonies and coins. Outside the rim is decorated with four ‘ruyi’ scrolls separated by lozenge or ingot and circle motifs. Around the foot is a band of scroll work and above a stylized border of leaves and flowers.
