Description:
Porcelain miniature dish decorated in underglaze blue. This tiny hexagonal dish with a tapering foot is painted outside and in the well with sinewy five-clawed dragons separated by lotus flowers. The base is filled by a six-character Jiajing reign mark in a single ring.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:Such tiny dishes, based on silver-ware shapes, were probably used either for serving individual portions of sauce or pickles or as chopstick rests. Undoubtedly at an imperial banquet great numbers of these dishes would have been required for guests.
