Description:
A dance-hat; wide, circular brim, pointed top (kept rigid with cane (?) stick). Made from black satin silk cloth; underside lined with red silk damask cloth (large-scale cloud motifs). Cloth attached to wooden hoop. Appliquéd motifs around crown: a disc with crescent moon beneath (?) at centre front; ‘eye’ with single deer antler (?) alternating with skull (satin silk; gold leaf (?) on paper (?)). Red and white cords interlaced on brim to form six-pointed star. Four straps. Small holes.
