Song Duanshi is purple in color, moist in texture, and deeply rusted in ink. Long style, high and thick. The surface of the inkstone is carved with a cirrus cloud pattern, and the inkstone hall is slightly concave. In addition to the four sides of the back, the center is flat and low-lying, up to 3.5 cm deep, with dotted gouges. The walls around the inkstone are shallow engraved with calligraphy and painting, and the lines are corroded. The right and lower side walls are engraved with the full text of Wang Xizhi’s “Orchid Pavilion Preface”, with the double dragon round seal in front of the text, and the seals of “Xuanhe”, “Shaoxing”, and “Mi Fu” behind the text; The upper and left side walls are carved with line drawing lines to show the picture of the Orchid Pavilion. The back of the inkstone is engraved with the inkstone inscription of the 41st year of Qianlong reign (1776). It is said that the saints of the Qing Dynasty used this inkstone. The inscription reads: “The different things show the different shades of obscurity, and the hidden ones show who uses them. The ancient Muran Song inkstone is like the old pit out of the river. Who is the foreword of the Lanting painting? It is carved with magic strokes on all sides. The seal of Xuanhe Shaoxing is known for its heritage, and then there is the Mi Fu Xiao Yinshi. Or that is, the work of Qiangwengshan, and the villa is scattered today. It is more honest than Xun Qi, and the old Kangxi books can be checked. The Tiji used for Linchi, and the Fu Yi Ding was only Ai Si. The worship of literature and frugality, and the respect for life are ashamed to know themselves.” This inkstone is included in Volume IX of “Xiqing Inkstone Manual”.
