Su Hanchen (about the 12th century AD) was born in Kaifeng, Henan Province. He once served in Xuanhe Painting Academy for imperial edict. After the Northern Song Dynasty died in the Jin Dynasty, he was reinstated in Shaoxing Painting Academy in the Southern Song Dynasty. Liu Zonggu, the teacher, is good at painting and interpreting, and the characters are wonderful, especially babies. In this painting, three boys gather at the bottom of a tree to cool off. One of them holds a thin stick to fight and weave for a play, while the other two are also happy and afraid. They want to try and stop, but their mood is very funny. However, the proportion of characters and the painting of clothes and ornaments are not good enough for engraving, which is suspected to be the work of later generations of painters.
