The end of the inkstone is in the form of a rectangle with no block at the lower end. The two sides are about six to seven centimeters high. The inkstone is purple ochre and light. The surface of the inkstone is wide and flat. The ink pool is slightly in a straight line. On the wall of the inkstone head, there is an official script: “Song Yan”. On the right side, there is an official script: “Chui Ru”. On the left side, there is an inkstone inscribed by the Emperor Gaozong of the Qing Dynasty. On the running script, “The inkstone is a person who studies it, who washes the fragrance of six arts, and enriches my heart.”. The title: “Emperor Qianlong’s title”. The first seal: “Yan Lu”. There are thirty-two stone pillars in the back of the inkstone. They seem to be blind and uneven, like the bell milk on the cliff. The lower end of the inkstone is broken and has been repaired. This inkstone inscription is also recorded in the First Complete Collection of Qing Emperor Gaozong’s Imperial Poems and Prose, the First Collection of Imperial Prose, Volume 27, 6-7. According to this inkstone, in the winter of the 14th year of Qianlong’s reign, the Emperor Gaozong of the Qing Dynasty selected an ancient inkstone from the Inner Mansion and made it into the ancient ten inkstones. This inkstone is the fourth of them, and it is marked with the character “Ding” in regular script, so it is different from other inkstones.
