Li Cheng (AD 916-967), a descendant of the Tang Dynasty royal family, was born in Shandong Province in the five dynasties. In the early Five Dynasties and Northern Song Dynasty, when ink landscape painting was mature, Li Cheng’s Songshi was flat and prosperous. Along with Jing Hao, Guan Tong and Fan Kuan in the north, Dong Yuan and Juran in the south developed into two major landscape painting departments.
