On the autumn night on the cliff, the bright moon is in the sky. One person sits on a rock. Hold a cup to the moon. A child stood by holding a pot and described Li Bai’s poetry of “drinking alone under the moon”. Ma Yuan (1190-1224 AD), a native of Hezhong, Shanxi, was the pioneer of lyrical landscape painting in the Southern Song Dynasty. The composition of this picture is solid on the left and empty on the right. It is high and low in the distance. The layout is appropriate. The brush strokes are pleasant and smooth. The contrast between dark and dark ink is obvious. The technique is very skilled, showing the painting style of Zhejiang School influenced by Ma Yuan in the Ming Dynasty.
