Su Shi (1037-101 AD), with the character of Zizhan, was born in Meishan, Sichuan Province, as a resident of Dongpo. Poetry, calligraphy and painting are well known. Calligraphy has the advantages of the two Wangs, Yan Zhenqing, Li Yong, and Yang Ning styles at the same time. Taking a comprehensive view of the calligraphy, Huang Tingjian is praised as the first in the Song Dynasty.
