Description:
The end stone is a rectangular inkstone with round corners. The inkstone is square and flat. The ink pool is about three centimeters deep. There is a half round shape above the center of the ink pool, which looks like a hanging bead. The stone is purple and reddish, and the texture is fine. The inkstone head wall is carved with the word “Song Yan”. The center of the back of the inkstone is deep, and the upper inner wall is carved with the word “Ziyun”. The central part is engraved with the first inscription of the Emperor Gaozong of the Qing Dynasty. The running script: “To enter with the pen, to exit with the ink, and not to know, is for a few days.”, The title of the article is “Emperor Qianlong’s Imperial Knowledge”, and the seal is printed with four characters: “A few moments in the pond”. This inkstone inscription is also recorded in the First Complete Collection of Imperial Poems and Prose of Emperor Gaozong of the Qing Dynasty, the First Collection of Imperial Prose, Volume 27, Page 6-7. According to this, the inkstone was the sixth of the ten ancient inkstones made by Emperor Qianlong in the winter of the 14th year of Qianlong’s reign. Therefore, he recognized the regular script of “oneself” in the inkstone box to distinguish it from his inkstone.
