Jun stoneware box and lid. The box is circular, with six shallow lobes and a domed lid. It has opalescent blue glaze coloured purple on the sides and base with an in-glaze copper pigment.

Small boxes such as this were used to store cosmetics, seal paste or incense. The form of this circular box with flat top and sides scored into six sections is also found in contemporary Northern Song silverware. It has small knobs of clay on the cover and tray, beneath the glaze, which, when they are lined up, give the correct fit.
