Comments:Published PDF date : Qing Kangxi 1662-1722 Room 95 label text:PDF 739Bowl with Buddhist figuresMing emperors appear to have favoured bright, colourful, schemes for their buildings, costumes and furnishings. This bowl with Buddhist figures has colours applied directly to the biscuit-fired porcelain body. This lends the enamels a darker hue than those first coated with a layer of glaze and fired before the enamels were added and the piece was fired again. The base carries an apocryphal underglaze blue Jiajing reign mark.Porcelain with on-the-biscuit green, yellow, aubergine and black enamelsJingdezhen, Jiangxi province
