Description:
Bowl with bracket-lobed rim, moulded decoration and luanbai glaze. This deep bowl has rounded sides and an everted bracket-lobed rim. It stands on an unusual foot ring which is almost flat and is solid, indented by only a few millimetres within the outer ring. Inside the bowl is moulded with an eight-petalled flower head in the centre, and in the cavetto with eight radiating panels with bracket-lobed tops containing auspicious emblems including a double gourd, an ingot and a rhinoceros horn. The exterior is plain and there are several hairline cracks and flaws in the dull luanbai glaze which covers all but the base.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:Shallower dishes of this type have been excavated in Yuan contexts in the Philippines, demonstrating that such bowls were exported in the early fourteenth century. Similar dishes are also known from private collections.
